STEAM GUIDES

Steam Family Sharing is one of the most useful features for gamers who want to share their purchased games with family and friends without giving away their account login credentials. Whether you're a beginner just starting on Steam or a seasoned player looking to maximize your game library, this guide will explain everything you need to know about Steam Family Sharing.

What Is Steam Family Sharing?

Steam Family Sharing allows Steam users to share their game library with up to 5 other accounts on up to 10 authorized devices. This means that family members or close friends can play your games on their own accounts while keeping their personal achievements and save files separate.

How to Enable Steam Family Sharing

1. Log in to the main Steam account on the device you want to share from.
2. Navigate to Steam > Settings > Family.
3. Check the box that says "Authorize Library Sharing on this Computer."
4. Log out and let the secondary accounts log in to their own Steam accounts.
5. Once logged in, the secondary users can request access to your shared library.

Limitations of Family Sharing

• One user at a time: Only one person can play a shared game at a time.
• Not all games are shareable: Some games with third-party subscriptions may not support Family Sharing.
• Internet connection required: The first time you access a shared library, Steam requires an internet connection.
• Purchase restrictions: Secondary users cannot purchase DLC or add games to the primary account's library.

Benefits of Steam Family Sharing

• Cost-effective: Share a single purchase with multiple accounts.
• Personalized experience: Each user keeps their own achievements, friends list, and save data.
• Easy access for guests: Friends or family can try your games before buying them themselves.
• Safe and official: Steam manages all permissions and security, so you don't have to share passwords.

Safety Tips for Using Family Sharing

To ensure smooth usage and avoid potential issues:

• Never share your account password. Steam Family Sharing doesn't require it.
• Authorize only trusted devices. Avoid public computers.
• Monitor library usage. Make sure everyone knows the "one user at a time" rule.
• Check game restrictions. Some games, especially multiplayer or subscription-based, may not work.

Common Questions

Conclusion

Steam Family Sharing is a powerful feature that makes gaming more flexible and cost-effective. By understanding how to set it up, its limitations, and safety precautions, beginners and experienced users alike can enjoy a shared library without compromising personal accounts. Always follow Steam's rules to avoid access issues, and make the most out of your game collection.

In the past, our accounts were available without any additional verification code, allowing users to log in and start playing immediately.

However, over time, we experienced problems with some people accessing accounts and changing settings, interfering with the account, or causing issues for other users. To prevent this and provide better protection, we decided to upgrade our security system and switch to Two-Factor Authentication (2FA).

Why Does Login Now Require a Code?

Your account password is no longer enough to log in. After entering the account credentials, you will also need a Steam Guard verification code.

To make this process easier, we provide a dedicated 2FA bot that allows you to securely request and receive the verification code when you need to log in.

This means that even if someone obtains the account password, they cannot simply log in without also having access to the required verification code.

Why Is This Safer Than Before?

Previously, accounts could be accessed using only their login credentials. This made them more vulnerable to unauthorized access and unwanted changes.

With 2FA, the verification code adds an extra layer of security to every login.

The dedicated bot also makes it much easier for legitimate users to obtain the required Steam Guard code without having direct access to the account's security settings.

Why Did We Make This Change?

The purpose of this change is not to make the login process more complicated. It is to protect our accounts and the users who rely on them.

After experiencing problems caused by people who interfered with accounts under the previous system, we decided that stronger protection was necessary. That's why 2FA is now an essential part of the STM7GAMES security system.

Getting a verification code may take a few extra seconds, but it gives the account significantly better protection than the previous system.

How to Get a 2FA code from the Bot?

1. Copy the account details.
2. Log in to Steam using the Steam PC launcher only.
3. Copy the SITE-CODE from the game page.
4. Open our 2FA Bot and send the SITE-CODE.
5. The bot will provide your Steam Guard verification code.
6. Enter the 2FA code in Steam to complete the login.

Conclusion

STM7GAMES — Better security, safer access, better experience.

Steam offers two primary modes for playing games: Online Mode and Offline Mode. Understanding the difference between these two modes is essential for gamers who want flexibility in how and where they play.

What Is Steam Online Mode?

Steam Online Mode is the default mode when you launch the Steam client while connected to the internet. In this mode, all features are available:

• Access to your full game library
• Multiplayer gaming and online matchmaking
• Steam Cloud synchronization for save files
• Steam Chat and community features
• Automatic updates for games

Online Mode ensures that you have the most up-to-date versions of games and full access to Steam's social and community features.

What Is Steam Offline Mode?

Steam Offline Mode allows you to play games without an internet connection. This is especially useful when traveling or in areas with limited connectivity.

• Play single-player games without internet
• Access previously installed and updated games
• Steam Cloud features may be limited
• Online multiplayer games cannot be played

Key Differences

When to Use Offline Mode

Offline Mode is ideal in situations like:

• Traveling or using Steam on a laptop without internet access.
• Avoiding internet interruptions during long gaming sessions.
• Playing single-player games without distractions.

Always make sure your games are updated and authorized for Offline Mode before disconnecting.

Tips for Smooth Offline Mode Usage

• Log in at least once online: Steam must verify your account before Offline Mode works.
• Keep games updated: Make sure all updates and DLC are downloaded.
• Authorize your device: Only authorized devices can run Offline Mode.
• Check which games support Offline Mode: Some newer games or multiplayer-focused titles may not work offline.

Conclusion

Both Steam Online Mode and Offline Mode serve important purposes for gamers. Online Mode offers the full Steam experience, including multiplayer, achievements, and social features, while Offline Mode provides flexibility to play without an internet connection. Understanding the differences ensures you can choose the right mode for your situation and enjoy your games smoothly, whether connected or not.

Sharing Steam accounts or using Steam Family Sharing is a convenient way to enjoy games with friends and family without purchasing multiple copies. However, improper use of shared accounts can lead to access problems, conflicts, or even account restrictions.

Understand Steam Family Sharing Rules

• You can share your library with up to 5 other accounts
• Only 10 devices can be authorized for shared access
• Only one user can play a shared game at a time
• Certain games with third-party subscriptions may not be shareable

Following these rules prevents conflicts and ensures all users can enjoy games without interruptions.

Maintain Account Security

• Never share your Steam password. Use Family Sharing instead.
• Enable Steam Guard and two-factor authentication
• Only authorize devices you fully trust
• Avoid public or unknown computers

Coordinate Play Schedules

Steam allows only one user to play a shared game at a time. To avoid conflicts:

• Communicate with all users about when each person plans to play.
• Keep track of popular games to prevent frustration.
• If multiple users frequently want to play the same game, consider purchasing additional copies.

Keep Games Updated

Outdated games can cause issues when shared between accounts:

• Ensure all games on the primary account are fully updated.
• Launch games online before enabling offline mode to verify updates.
• Regularly check for DLC or patch updates to prevent secondary account problems.

Troubleshoot Common Issues

• Library Not Accessible: Re-authorize the secondary device in Steam > Settings > Family
• Game Already in Use: Coordinate play schedules or purchase another copy
• VAC or Bans: Avoid cheating or using unauthorized third-party software, as VAC bans affect both primary and secondary users
• Offline Mode Problems: Log in online first to verify the shared library, then switch to offline mode

Communicate and Educate Users

Effective communication is key to smooth shared account usage:

• Make sure all users understand Family Sharing rules and limitations.
• Explain the "one user at a time" rule clearly.
• Encourage users to report issues instead of attempting to bypass restrictions.

Conclusion

Shared Steam accounts can be a great way to save money and enjoy games with friends or family, but proper management is essential. By understanding Family Sharing rules, maintaining account security, coordinating play schedules, and keeping games updated, you can prevent most common issues. Clear communication and careful account management ensure that everyone enjoys a smooth and trouble-free gaming experience.

Valve Anti-Cheat, commonly known as VAC, is a security system developed by Valve Corporation to detect and prevent cheating in games on the Steam platform. Understanding how VAC works is essential to ensure fair play and protect your account from bans.

What Is VAC?

VAC is an automated system that scans for cheats and modifications in games that can provide unfair advantages. It is used in many popular Steam games, especially competitive titles such as Counter-Strike, Team Fortress 2, and Dota 2.

How VAC Works

• Detection: VAC scans game files and memory for known cheat signatures
• Delayed Bans: Bans are often applied after some time, not immediately
• Account-Specific: VAC bans are applied to individual Steam accounts
• Game-Specific: A VAC ban only affects the game where the cheat was detected

Common VAC Misconceptions

Tips to Avoid VAC Bans

• Never use cheats or hacks: Avoid any software that modifies the game's files or behavior.
• Be cautious with mods: Only use mods approved by the game developer or official community.
• Keep Steam updated: Make sure your Steam client and games are updated to reduce false positives.
• Avoid shared accounts for cheating: Using cheats on a shared account can get everyone banned.

What Happens After a VAC Ban?

If a VAC ban is applied:

• You cannot play on VAC-secured servers for that specific game.
• The ban appears on your Steam profile and cannot be removed.
• Other users will see that your account has a VAC ban, which may affect trust in multiplayer communities.
• Your access to other Steam features, such as trading or community participation, is not affected unless linked to game restrictions.

Conclusion

Valve Anti-Cheat (VAC) is a vital system that protects the integrity of competitive gaming on Steam. Understanding how it works, following best practices, and avoiding any cheats or unauthorized software will keep your account safe. For all Steam users, respecting VAC rules ensures fair play and a secure gaming experience for everyone. Always play honestly and enjoy games without risking bans or penalties.

Steam Family Sharing is a popular feature that allows users to share their game libraries with friends and family. However, Steam imposes certain limitations on shared accounts to ensure fair play, protect game licenses, and maintain account security.

Why Steam Limits Shared Accounts

Rules for Shared Accounts

• Up to 5 accounts can access a shared library
• Only 10 devices can be authorized for shared access
• Not all games are shareable; some are restricted due to licensing or online requirements
• The primary account has priority: if the owner starts playing, secondary users are asked to quit
• Achievements and Steam Cloud data remain separate for each account

If you've ever browsed the Steam store, you may have noticed that game prices can vary significantly depending on your country. This is known as regional pricing. Understanding why these differences exist is important for gamers who want to make informed purchasing decisions.

What Is Regional Pricing?

Regional pricing is a system where game prices are adjusted based on the country or region of the Steam account. This allows Valve and game developers to set prices according to local market conditions:

• Average income levels
• Currency fluctuations
• Local taxes and regulations
• Market demand

The goal is to make games more affordable in regions with lower purchasing power while maintaining profitability in wealthier countries.

How Steam Determines Your Region

• Billing Address: The address associated with your payment method
• Currency Settings: Prices are displayed in your local currency

Changing your region is not straightforward and can trigger security checks, so it's important to use your correct region when purchasing games.

How SteamDB Can Help

steamdb.info is a powerful tool that provides detailed information about Steam games, including:

• Current prices in all regions
• Historical price trends
• Sales and discounts

By visiting SteamDB, gamers can compare prices across countries, check whether a game is restricted in their region, and make smarter purchasing decisions.

Price Differences Examples

Games may cost different amounts in USD, EUR, or local currency due to regional pricing. For example:

• A game priced at $60 in the United States may cost €50 in Europe.
• The same game could be significantly cheaper in countries like India or Brazil, reflecting local economic conditions.

Regional discounts and promotions can also vary, making it useful to monitor multiple regions if you want the best deals.

Tips for Buying Games Across Regions

• Always follow Steam rules: Using VPNs or fake payment methods to bypass regional pricing can lead to account bans.
• Check multiple regions on SteamDB: Compare prices to find the most reasonable option.
• Be aware of currency conversions: Your bank may charge fees for foreign currency transactions.
• Monitor sales: Prices can fluctuate during Steam seasonal sales or developer discounts.

Conclusion

Regional pricing exists to balance affordability for players in different countries while ensuring fair revenue for developers. Prices differ based on local economic conditions, taxes, and market demand. Using tools like steamdb.info can help you understand these differences and make informed buying decisions. Always respect Steam's policies when considering cross-region purchases, and enjoy your games responsibly.

Steam hosts thousands of games from developers around the world, but sometimes certain titles are removed from the store or restricted in specific regions. Understanding why Steam removes or restricts games helps players navigate the platform more effectively.

Legal and Copyright Issues

One of the main reasons games get removed is legal disputes. This can include copyright infringement, trademark conflicts, or violations of licensing agreements. If a game uses copyrighted content without permission, Steam may remove it until the issue is resolved.

Publisher or Developer Decisions

Sometimes, game removal occurs because the publisher or developer chooses to take the game down:

• Ending support for outdated versions of the game
• Shutting down servers for multiplayer games
• Preparing a re-release or updated edition of the game

In these cases, the removal is temporary and part of the developer's plan to improve or update their product.

Policy Violations

Steam has strict content guidelines. Games may be removed if they contain prohibited material:

• Hate speech or extreme violence
• Illegal activities
• Unlicensed third-party content

Developers who fail to follow these policies may have their games restricted or removed to maintain a safe and legal environment on the platform.

Regional Restrictions

Certain games may be restricted in specific countries due to local laws or cultural norms. Some countries have strict regulations against gambling content, explicit violence, or politically sensitive material. Steam complies with these rules to avoid legal problems. As a result, a game may be available in one country but inaccessible in another.

Impact on Players

Being aware of these possibilities helps avoid frustration and allows gamers to plan their purchases more carefully.

Technical or Support Issues

Games are occasionally removed due to technical problems or lack of ongoing support. Developers may pull a game from the store to fix critical bugs, update servers, or improve compatibility with Steam systems. Once the issues are resolved, the game may return to the store, but during this time, it may be temporarily unavailable.

Conclusion

Games on Steam can be removed or restricted for legal reasons, developer decisions, policy violations, regional regulations, or technical issues. Understanding why these actions occur allows players to navigate the platform confidently and avoid unexpected disruptions. Staying informed through official Steam updates and developer communications ensures a smoother experience and helps gamers enjoy their library without surprises.

Finding free PC games online is easier than ever, but it is important to make sure that the games come from legitimate and trusted sources. In this guide, we will show you some simple ways to find free games safely.

Use Trusted Gaming Platforms

The safest way to find free PC games is through well-known gaming platforms. Some platforms regularly offer free games or free-to-play titles, including:

• Epic Games Store
• Steam
• GOG
• Ubisoft Connect
• Amazon Games
• STOVE

Always check the official store page before downloading a game.

Check Weekly Free Game Offers

Many gaming platforms offer games for free for a limited time. If you claim a game before the offer ends, you may be able to keep it in your library permanently, depending on the promotion.

At STM7GAMES, you can easily find these offers in our Free Weekly section. We collect free game promotions from different platforms in one place, making it easier to discover new games every week.

Avoid Suspicious Websites

Be careful with websites that offer paid games for free without an official promotion. They may provide unsafe or modified files.

Avoid websites that:

• Ask you to install unknown software.
• Require unnecessary browser extensions.
• Ask for your account password or 2FA code.
• Use suspicious download links.
• Ask you to disable your antivirus.

Free-to-Play vs Free-to-Keep

Free-to-Play games can normally be played without purchasing the base game, although they may contain optional in-game purchases.

Free-to-Keep games are usually part of a limited-time promotion. You need to claim them while the offer is active, and they may remain in your library afterward according to the platform's terms.

Keep Your Account Safe

Never share your gaming account password, 2FA codes, or recovery codes with anyone. Using two-factor authentication and downloading games from trusted sources can help protect both your account and your computer.

Conclusion

There are many legitimate ways to find free PC games. Stick to trusted platforms, avoid suspicious downloads, and always check the source of a free game.
